TALLOW
New to tallow skincare products?! Welcome. Here I will tell you all about why you should be ditching almost all of the bottles of skincare you have in your cabinet and switch over to tallow. It truly is the cleanest, most non-toxic option and will deeply nourish your skin and provide healing.
Tallow is rendered down beef fat. Stick with me! Yes, I am telling you to slather beef fat on your skin - and once you do, you'll never go back! We partner with Turkey Foot Ranch, a local 100% grass fed cattle farmer to source the highest quality beef fat to render down to pure, odorless tallow. When tallow comes from 100% grass fed cows, the nutrients are at their peak and will soak deep into your skin to restore your skin to the way it should be - soft, smooth, and free of imperfections such as rashes or acne.
SUPERFOOD FOR YOUR SKIN
Tallow is nature's superfood for the skin! It is incredibly similar to the sebum our skin produces, so it works WITH our body's skin oil production to avoid clogging pores. It will melt deep into your skin's tissues, leaving soft and nourished skin!
RICH IN VITAMINS
Tallow is naturally high in Vitamins A, D, E, and K. It has natural anti-fungal and antimicrobial properties, which makes it my go-to for rashes of all kinds! It can soothe and aid in healing eczema, psoriasis, acne, cradle cap, diaper rash, dry skin, beard dryness, and even hot spots on your animals! Once you introduce tallow to your family's skin, you'll find that it replaces a lot of products you would have purchased for different purposes and you'll only need to use tallow!
Tallow naturally has a deep buttery scent but we have purified 100% grass-fed beef tallow three times slowly to make it as pure and odorless as possible. If you feel like the smell will bother you, lavender is a great scent to mask the smell tallow naturally has.
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about tallow!
FAQ
Does it smell?
Not like you are thinking of how tallow should smell! We triple purify the beef fat to make it as pure and odorless as possible. Tallow naturally has a deep buttery scent to it, but most people don't mind it at all and even enjoy it. If you feel like the scent will bother you, I'd recommend grabbing a jar of lavender whipped tallow!
Does it leave your skin greasy?
Not at all! Tallow is very similar to our own sebum so it actually sinks deep into the tissues to nourish your skin and does not clog pores.
How often do you use it?
We use it daily in our home, but that is totally up to you. I use it nightly as a face moisturizer and for my baby as a nightly lotion. I used it on my growing belly when I was pregnant, too. You can also use it medicinally to help soothe diaper rash, eczema, protect cheeks and lips before going into the wind, scrapes/cuts, on dry/cracked winter hands, help treat fungal rashes, or on animals for hot spots or skin issues with them. We joke in our home that if there are any skin concerns that arise, "just throw some tallow on it!"
Where do you get your tallow?
I only partner with farmers who have 100% grass fed and grass finished tallow, which is why I went with Turkey Foot Ranch for my sourcing! They let their cows graze and are 100% grass fed. When tallow comes from 100% grass fed and grass finished cows, it is packed with nutrients that help truly nourish the skin. I have lots of opportunities to source grass fed and grain finished tallow, but I will only ever put grass fed and grass finished tallow on my family's skin so I make sure I only source the best.
